JAG is the only jazz organization funded by the Ohio Arts Council at the major institutional support level, and the only jazz organization to have received National Arts Stabilization funding support.
JAG is one of five major performing arts organizations in Columbus. Under the leadership of internationally-known Artistic Director Byron Stripling, the CJO presents nearly fifty concerts each season at the historic Southern Theatre.
CJO features two different concert series (Swingin' at the Southern and The Great American Songbook) that total more than 2,200 subscribers, making the CJO audience the largest subscription base for any jazz series in the United States.
JAG also presents Jazz On The Avenue, a collaboration with Columbus' King Arts Complex, featuring small-group jazz ensembles and world-class guest artists in a concert setting.
Through its educational programs, JAG has a significant affect on young people. Through outreach programs, guest artists, internships, pre-concert lectures, special concert pricing for students, youth jazz ensembles, and its new Jazz Academy coming in 2009, JAG provides the opportunity for thousands of students each year to experience America's art form, jazz.
The JAG Musicians Services program creates performance opportunities for many of Columbus' finest professional jazz musicians and supports the concept of live music for a variety of events.
